Infant Child Care
The Infant Program at Little Learners provides more than just daycare for children aged six weeks to fifteen months. We understand how hard it is to leave your precious cherubs in someone else’s care, so we try to create an extension of your home.
Our infant rooms are stimulating, clean, and a developmentally nurturing environment led by a team of skilled caretakers who understand that every infant develops at their own pace. While we have scheduled activities to maintain consistency in their days, individualized plans for each child’s care are created, in partnership with his or her parent.
Our classroom environment includes toys and materials that foster the development of fine and gross motor skills and provides them with supervised opportunities to improve physical development. Language growth is enhanced through immersion in sign language, music and books. Mothers are welcome to use private breastfeeding areas to feed or pump. A sense of community and trust is driven by the relationships formed with their teachers and interaction with other children.
Our Infant Room Teachers
•Are CPR certified and First Aide trained.
•Observe each child’s activities to assess development milestones
•Communicate daily with families to provide a consistent support system between school and home.
•Actively engage children to provoke curiosity and socialization with appropriate play to also develop motor skills.
Infant Child Care Daily Schedule
Arrival and Greetings
Babies arrive and the day starts. Parents and care givers will go over the baby’s last feeding and diaper change. Any special instructions for the day will also be discussed.
Developmental Activities
Infants will be involved in age appropriate activities. For younger babies this may be tummy time or bouncing. For older babies it can be block building, sensory play or dramatic play areas.
Small Group Activities
Infants will have supervised play with other babies in their age range. This can include going for a walk or stroll if the weather is permitting or indoor play and singing.
Lunch/Personal Care Needs Routine
Each child will follow their individual lunch plan. After which, they will be diapered and cleaned.
Nap/Quiet Time
Babies will nap in a dimly lit room with lullabies playing in the background. Care givers will rock or rub the babies backs if needed. If a child does not sleep he or she is able to enjoy some personal time with the caregiver.
Afternoon Snack
As the children wake up they are greeted by their care giver. Their personal care needs are met, and then they are served an afternoon snack.
Outdoor or Indoor Gross Motor Play
Weather permitting the babies will go outdoors to play with age appropriate toys or stay indoors and dance and sing or play with age appropriate toys.
Developmental Activities
Young infants work with care givers on age appropriate activities designed to improve cognitive and motor skills. Older babies are able to choose from a selection of age appropriate toys or activities that they wish to play with.
Quiet Activities/Dismissal
Infants have some quiet play time while caregivers discuss their day with parents as they arrive. Each parent will also get a daily sheet explaining what their child’s day consisted of.
